Safety is built into every part of zyttle. Every adult sitter completes ID verification, phone verification, and sex offender registry screening before going live — no exceptions. Teen sitters require explicit approval from a parent or guardian. Adult sitters can also choose to complete a Checkr background check at their own expense and earn a Background Checked badge that's visible on every booking screen. Teen sitters must be at least 13 (or 14 in Illinois, 13 in Maryland). Every teen sitter (13–17) requires explicit guardian approval before going live. Adult sitters (18+) complete identity verification and sex offender registry screening as part of their onboarding, with an optional Checkr background check available.

Every adult sitter on zyttle completes three verifications before going live: government-issued ID verification, mobile phone verification, and a sex offender registry screening. Teen sitters complete phone verification and require guardian approval. These are mandatory — a sitter who hasn't completed them won't appear in search. Beyond that, adult sitters can choose to complete a Checkr background check at their own expense. zyttle displays the result as a Background Checked badge on the sitter's profile. You'll see clearly whether each sitter has the badge so you can choose accordingly. zyttle is a platform — we help families and sitters find each other, but we don't otherwise screen or vet sitters.

Yes. Creating an account is free for everyone. Parents pay a $3.99 per-booking service fee, or upgrade to premium to waive booking fees. Sitters are free to join — zyttle takes a small % per booking to cover payment processing and platform costs. Sitters set their own hourly rates.

Cancellations made outside the window — more than 24 hours ahead for future bookings, or more than 1 hour ahead for same-day bookings — are charged the booking fee only. Cancel inside those windows and you'll be charged one hour at the sitter's rate plus the booking fee. The sitter always receives that hour. Premium members get one free late cancellation per month, automatically waived — after that, the standard policy applies.
